Use of Country Systems

Activities

  • Country Dialogues for Using and Strengthening Local Systems The EIP takes action to achieve a greater use of local systems and better integration of aid in the budget cycle. The Country Dialogues for Using and Strengthening Local Systems were launched during the High-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (April 2014).  The Country Dialogues will provide a space for development partners to discuss challenges and risks in particular countries and promote better coordination amongst donors and partners. Under the championship of USAID and the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI), the EIP will pilot this approach in a volunteer partner country in 2015. Why Using Country Systems Matters for Development Impact

Facilitating the implementation of the Busan commitments related to the use of country systems. The EIP facilitates the sharing of experiences on how the use of country systems has evolved as well as the learning of innovative practices at country level. Research is undertaken on “hybrid” forms of country systems in Africa, incentives for external stakeholders to use such systems and the use of project implementation units. The EIP also provides a space for development partners to reflect on the use of country systems and to discuss challenges (such as weaknesses of country systems and related risks) and common responses (such as the development of monitoring and evaluation tools).
