Karin Metell Cueva is Head of the Capacity Development unit within the Department for Partnership and Innovation at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The unit is responsible for Sida’s international training programmes and global and regional capacity building programmes. The unit coordinates Sida’s collaboration with Swedish Public Agencies, using peer to peer learning approaches to help strengthen capacity in the area of public administration. Karin has more than 20 years of experience in the development field having worked with the Swedish government with the UN and with private sector/consultancy. Prior to taking up a management position Karin served as an advisor mainly in the area of public administration and public financial management and has worked extensively in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Karin is an economist by training from Stockholm University.
Neil Cole has more than 20 years’ experience in public finance and budgeting. As a senior manager in the National Treasury of South Africa, he managed the national budget process and contributed to the design and implementation of several public finance management reforms. He represented South Africa at several High Level Forums on Aid Effectiveness and has previously served as a co-chair of the Effective Institutions Platform. Neil has led CABRI from its formative years as an informal network to its current status as a pan-African organization whose work covers more than 30 African countries.
